Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has sparked fresh controversy with a Mohbad evidence claim in Lagos on Thursday, 20 November 2025, after alleging that he possesses a videotape that he says details how the late singer was killed.

Fabiyi said in an Instagram post that the footage was allegedly sent to him by Mohbad’s younger brother, adding that the sender purportedly intended to use it to extort money from him. He insisted that the alleged material should be examined by authorities.

Fabiyi said he is “putting [his] life on the line” to ensure justice, describing the video as containing what he called “murder evidence and a confession.”

He urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene, claiming that unnamed individuals want to silence him and exploit the situation for political gain. His remarks generated strong reactions across social media, with many questioning the authenticity of the footage.

The actor also mentioned Wunmi Cynthia and several others as persons who should be investigated, stressing that accountability is essential and that no one should be considered above the law.

He argued that Nigerians deserve confidence in due process and a system that delivers fairness to all parties involved.

Fabiyi’s statements have reignited national interest in Mohbad’s controversial death, which has remained a subject of widespread speculation since the singer died in 2023.

The police have not confirmed receiving any such footage from Fabiyi, and no official comment has yet been issued by the presidency.

The renewed claims have left the public divided, with some viewing the allegations as potentially significant and others expressing concern that unverified claims could deepen confusion and tension surrounding the already complex case.
