This grant is part of OPay Digital Services’ national scholarship initiative, a ten-year Corporate Social Responsibility project supporting students in 20 Nigerian institutions.

With this partnership, Edo joins the ranks of states benefitting from a programme that targets students from low-income backgrounds and promotes equal access to education.

Ms Sally Suleiman, Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals, said the state’s inclusion is proof of its dedication to long-term educational impact.

“There is no greater investment than one in human capital. The Edo OPay education grant represents our push for quality education and development for all,” she stated.

The agreement will not only relieve financial pressure for struggling students, but also strengthen the state’s alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 4 on inclusive and equitable education.

OPay is expected to begin awarding the first batch of scholarships once the Memorandum of Understanding is signed.

Suleiman expressed appreciation to OPay and noted that the government will continue to collaborate with the private sector to advance development.
