Delta State students advocate waste management as they urge government at all levels to adopt proper waste disposal methods to keep the environment clean and sustainable.

During an interactive session held at Government Model Secondary School, Asaba, the Civil Club students called for greater environmental responsibility in the state.

Mr Abdulazees Hassaini, Programs Officer for Connected Development, explained that the event was designed to instil habits of environmental sustainability among the youth.

“We launched a recycling stand here at the school to encourage proper disposal of recyclable materials and foster a sense of shared responsibility for maintaining a clean environment,” he said.

The initiative also involved the donation of farm implements, encouraging students to engage in farming activities that will contribute positively to the environment by promoting greenery.

Delta State House of Assembly member Bridget Anyafulu praised the project, emphasising the importance of educating young people on sustainable practices.

“Teaching the next generation about waste management is crucial for building a better society,” she said.
