Food critic Opeyemi Famakin responds to Yhemo Lee’s body-shaming, highlighting his transformation and online hypocrisy

Nigerian food critic Opeyemi Famakin has addressed body-shaming remarks from socialite Yhemo Lee, popularly known as Adeyemi Idowu, after Famakin reviewed a ₦160,000 perfume produced by Yhemo Lee’s wife, Thayour B.

The review highlighted shortcomings in the perfume’s quality and packaging, which prompted Yhemo Lee to accuse Famakin of rejecting a ₦6 million offer for a favorable review and insult him with the label “fat fool.”

In a video circulating online, Famakin responded by demonstrating his physical transformation and emphasizing that the body-shaming remark was baseless. He also criticized Nigerians for condemning body shaming in principle while practicing it against those they dislike.

“Many Nigerians preach against body shaming, but when it comes to someone they don’t like, all those principles disappear,” Famakin said.
