Dangote Group Addresses Phyna’s Sister’s Accident

Dangote Group has pledged comprehensive medical care and compensation to Ruth Otabor, sister of BBNaija star Phyna, after a truck accident in Auchi, Edo State

Dangote Group has confirmed its involvement in a tragic road accident in Auchi, Edo State, which resulted in severe injuries to Ruth Otabor, the sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna.

The incident occurred on August 13, 2025, when one of Dangote Group’s trucks was involved in a collision that led to the amputation of Mrs. Otabor’s left leg, with her right leg also at risk.

She sustained additional injuries to her head and hand.

In response to the incident, Dangote Group issued a statement expressing deep concern and offering full support to Mrs. Otabor.

Senior officials from Dangote Cement Plc, accompanied by the company’s insurance team, visited the accident site, engaged with law enforcement authorities, and met with Mrs. Otabor and her family at Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital.

The company pledged comprehensive medical care and compensation in accordance with its welfare policy.

The company’s swift response follows public outcry, including from Phyna, who took to social media to demand justice for her sister.

Actress Kate Henshaw also voiced her support, urging the Nigerian Police Force to ensure justice is served.

Dangote Group has reiterated its commitment to the well-being of those affected by such incidents and has expressed its thoughts and wishes for Mrs. Otabor’s full and speedy recovery.
