Damilola Adegbite says it is okay for men to cry, urging them to embrace their emotions instead of hiding their vulnerabilities

Nollywood actress Damilola Adegbite has challenged the long-held belief that men should suppress their emotions, saying crying does not make a man less masculine.

Adegbite shared her thoughts in a recent video while questioning the societal expectations that often pressure men to appear strong and conceal their vulnerabilities.

The actress said she does not subscribe to the idea that men should not cry, arguing that expressing emotions should not be viewed as a weakness.

“I do not subscribe to the idea that men should not cry. God forbid, crying should make you feel like less of a man,” Adegbite said.

According to the actress, men have been conditioned by society to bottle up their emotions, even when they are experiencing difficult or painful situations.

She questioned why men should be expected to hide their feelings simply because of their gender.

Adegbite also shared how she would respond if her partner became emotional, saying she would comfort him rather than judge him for expressing his feelings.

The actress said she would allow her partner to cry and release his emotions, stressing the importance of creating an environment where vulnerability is accepted.

Her comments add to an ongoing conversation about emotional wellbeing, masculinity and the pressure placed on men to maintain a strong exterior even when they are struggling internally.
