British rapper Central Cee reveals his conversion to Islam, sharing his shahada and new name during a livestream with friends congratulating him

British rapper Oakley Neil Caesar-Su, popularly known as Central Cee, has publicly declared his conversion to Islam, confirming he has taken the shahada and adopted a new name.

The Band 4 Band crooner made the revelation during a recent livestream, where friends and collaborators congratulated him on the announcement.

“I just changed my name and took my shahada, I am a Muslim now,” Central Cee said in the video.

Central Cee, born on June 4, 1998, in London to an English mother and a father of Guyanese and Chinese ancestry, was raised in Shepherd’s Bush alongside his two younger brothers. His parents separated when he was seven.

The rapper began his career in 2014 with an appearance on the now-deleted Fire in the Streets series and released his first song feature on the Ain’t On Nuttin Remix alongside J Hus in January 2015.

He achieved mainstream success with his 2020 breakout single Day in the Life, establishing himself as a prominent figure in the UK drill scene.

Central Cee’s formal declaration of faith marks a personal milestone, adding a spiritual dimension to his public persona.
