Themed “Empowering Future Professionals: Mastering Career Tools, Building Networks, and Navigating Opportunities,” the initiative reflects a growing commitment to bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical workplace demands.

The Vice Chancellor of SAZU, Prof. Fatimah Tahir, praised TETFund’s intervention, especially the establishment of the Career Service Centre at the university, calling it a transformational milestone.

“This training is more than just skill-building. It’s about shaping a future where our students graduate with purpose and direction,” she said.

The programme focused on upskilling nominated faculty career officers and support staff who will anchor ongoing and future career development programmes within the university.

During the sessions, participants received expert guidance on:

  • Writing professional resumes and cover letters
  • Securing internships and volunteer placements
  • Performing mock interviews
  • Negotiation techniques for job offers

The Director of Human Resource and Career Development, Dr. Wasilu Suleman, called the training a “turning point” that positions career development as central to academic excellence at SAZU.

“Our role is not just academic; we are mentors and connectors, preparing students to thrive in today’s competitive job market,” Suleman noted.

One of the student participants, Adamu Ibrahim, said the training helped him realise the importance of early career planning and the power of networking.
