Ronami Ogulu, sister to Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy, has revealed that the superstar’s preference for live performances over studio time is deeply tied to their family’s artistic philosophy and management legacy.

Speaking recently, Ronami credited their mother, Bose Ogulu, not just with managing Burna Boy’s career, but with building a legacy focused on live authenticity.

She also highlighted the pivotal role their uncle, known as Uncle Tee, played in shaping this ethos by assembling Burna Boy’s original live band.

“My mum’s younger brother literally scouted everyone from his church,” she shared, emphasising the deliberate foundation laid early in Burna Boy’s career.

Ronami explained that this foundation has greatly influenced Burna Boy’s creative process and public presence.

“All of that contributed to the intention of what started today. The goal has always been live music, not just studio recording.”

She noted that this is why fans often question why Burna Boy is “always on the road,” pointing out that the family’s focus has never been on long studio sessions abroad.

“I think that’s why many people are always confused, asking, ‘Why are you always on tour? Why are you guys always on the road?’ The intention has never really been about going to a studio in LA and sitting there for months.”
