Actress and filmmaker Bimbo Ademoye has opened up about a painful experience of betrayal by a close friend who once looked up to her in the entertainment industry.

In a deeply personal Instagram post, the Sugar Rush star recounted how she supported her friend, an aspiring actress, by buying her clothes, shoes and accessories to help her look the part at red carpet events.
Despite her generosity, Bimbo said she was met with envy and disloyalty.
“I remember I once had a friend who wanted to be an actor as well. Whenever we attended events, I’d shop for her as well… I wanted her to look like the superstar she wanted to become,” she wrote.
Bimbo, already enjoying recognition with AMVCA nominations and roles in major films, explained how her friend once copied her outfit for a movie premiere without telling her.
She initially dismissed it as harmless until her sister warned it was a red flag.
The situation took a darker turn when Bimbo fell ill and the friend distanced herself.
I thank God I took my L and cut her off. Some people are not your friends; they are just close enough to compete.
Later, the actress discovered that her former friend had not only ghosted her during that period but also created a fake Instagram page to troll her.
Worse still, she tried to get involved with Bimbo’s partner.
“Tell me why this daughter of Jezebel created a fake page on IG and started trolling me. Sending messages to my boyfriend at the time saying all sorts. The craziest part, she even tried to link up with him romantically,” Bimbo revealed.
She also noted how the friend began to compete with her in public appearances, constantly aiming to look more expensive—still funded by Bimbo’s kindness.
Her candid account has reignited conversation around the trustworthiness of friendships among celebrities, especially when fame and envy collide.
