Australia Cancels Kanye’s Visa Over Shocking Nazi Song

Australia cancels Kanye’s visa after his release of a Nazi‑praising “Heil Hitler” song and prior antisemitic remarks. Home Affairs Minister stated the country won’t import hate

Australia cancels Kanye’s visa after U.S. rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, released the controversial song “Heil Hitler,” prompting the government to revoke his entry privileges.

Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke confirmed on Wednesday that the release of “Heil Hitler” triggered fresh scrutiny of Ye’s visa, which had previously not been affected by earlier antisemitic comments such as “I love Hitler” and “I’m a Nazi” on social media.

Burke noted that the visa in question was a lower‑level one, likely for personal or family purposes, and that officials reviewed it under existing immigration law.

He said, “You’re going to have a song and promote that sort of Nazism, we don’t need that in Australia”.

He continued: “We have enough problems in this country already without deliberately importing bigotry.”

Burke emphasised that the decision reflects national interest and echoes previous actions, such as bans on Candace Owens in October 2024 and pro‑Israel influencer Hillel Fuld last monthreuters.

He added that Australia follows character‑based visa criteria under migration law to protect social cohesion

Ye has longstanding ties to Australia. He is married to architect Bianca Censori, who is Australian and Melbourne‑born, and he has visited frequently prior to the cancellation.

Burke’s office declined to provide an exact cancellation date, but made it clear that this decision stems directly from the timing and content of Ye’s song.

The “Heil Hitler” single was released on May 8—coinciding with Victory in Europe Day—and featured Nazi rhetoric and imagery that sparked worldwide backlash.

Multiple platforms removed it from Spotify, YouTube, Apple Music, and Reddit in response to hate speech policies. In Australia, the song directly influenced the reassessment of Ye’s visa status.

We have enough problems in this country already without deliberately importing bigotry, said Burke, explaining the decision to cancel Kanye West’s visa following his Heil Hitler song release.

Australia cancels Kanye visa also as part of a broader stance on hate speech. The Australian Jewish Association and other community groups had requested tighter visa checks for Ye, citing his influence on youth and extremist leanings.

Burke echoed their concern, stating that individuals promoting antisemitism or Islamophobia should not be granted entry.

Global platforms also distanced themselves from Ye. In the wake of the song’s release, he faced bans from multiple streaming services for propagating hate.

The song was removed from Germany as well because of laws forbidding Nazi symbolism .

Australia cancels Kanye visa in line with its Migration Act, which allows refusal or revocation of visas for those who fail character assessments.

Burke emphasised that immigration policy prioritises community cohesion and national harmony.

Ye’s representatives did not comment immediately following the announcement.

As racial tensions rise in Australia amid global conflicts, authorities have implemented specialised roles to combat antisemitism and Islamophobia, reinforcing their intolerance for imported hate.

As Ye faces growing global isolation, Australia joins other countries in refusing to be a platform for hate.
