Afenifere urges Tinubu’s intervention in Osun LG crisis, backs his policies, and recommends expulsion of factional leader Oba Oladipo Olaitan from the group
Afenifere urges Tinubu intervention in the lingering local government crisis rocking Osun State, calling on the President to find a lasting solution and safeguard the democratic process at the grassroots.
In a communiqué signed by its National Financial Secretary, Lanre Omisore, and Publicity Secretary, Adeyinka Akala, the Pan Yoruba Socio-Political Group also expressed unwavering support for President Tinubu’s policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The statement, issued after a meeting of the Osun State chapter of Afenifere, reaffirmed loyalty to the national leadership of the group under Pa Reuben Fasoranti and dissociated itself from a faction allegedly led by Oba Oladipo Olaitan.
The group described Olaitan’s recent self-declaration as Afenifere leader during a meeting in Atakumosa Local Government as “a gross violation of the organisation’s norms” and a serious act of disloyalty.
“We note with great concern the recent meeting held by Oba Oladipo Olaitan Alaago of Kajola Ijesa in Atakumosa Local Government in Osun State, where he appointed himself as the purported leader of Afenifere without lawful authority,” the communiqué read.
“This is clearly a violation of Afenifere norms and practices, which we condemn completely.”

The Osun State chapter said it had resolved to recommend Olaitan’s expulsion and excommunication from Afenifere to the national body, describing his conduct as a threat to the unity and stability of the group.
The group also urged the national leadership of Afenifere to intervene swiftly in the Osun local government crisis.
“We call on the leadership of Afenifere at the national level to wade into the current local government crises in Osun State and find a lasting solution soon,” it said.
Calling for action from the country’s Commander-in-Chief, Afenifere said, “We call on our son, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to further his development, renewal, and hope for Yoruba land and Osun State in particular, both physical and human development.”
The group appealed to security agencies in Osun to act in line with their constitutional duties by protecting lives and property amidst rising political tensions in the state.
Afenifere urges Tinubu intervention not only as a political directive but as a plea to ensure stability in Yoruba land and preserve the integrity of democratic structures.
