Themed “Unsung Legends Who Shaped Today’s Glory,” the event will examine the evolution, influence, and responsibilities of entertainment journalism within Nigeria’s creative economy.
The 2025 Roundtable will feature a distinguished panel from music, media, digital culture, and contemporary creative practice.
Confirmed participants include Wunmi Obe, multi-award-winning singer, songwriter and bandleader, and Executive Director of Business Development and Innovation; Olumide Iyanda, former entertainment writer and Deputy President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers; Jide Taiwo, writer, media executive, and cultural strategist; Aralola Olamuyiwa, the renowned lady talking drummer and versatile performer; broadcaster Jimi Akinniyi, known as Jimi the Baldheaded Guy; and Deborah Lawal, UK-based Afro-soul singer and storyteller.
The Roundtable will air live on TopRadio 90.9 FM and will set the stage for the awards ceremony on Saturday, December 20, 2025, where three Lifetime Achievement honourees and at least five Special Recognition award recipients will be celebrated for their contributions to Nigerian entertainment.
The full list of Special Recognition awardees is expected to be released earlier on the day of the ceremony.
Chairman of the Steering Committee, veteran broadcaster Tokunbo Ojekunle, said the seven-member committee is working with renewed vigour to deliver a reflective and inspiring edition that honours the legacy of the late Adéwálé Olomu, whose pioneering work in entertainment journalism remains a touchstone for the industry.
“The WOMA-R Roundtable is designed not only to celebrate achievements but also to provoke thought about the role of journalism in shaping Nigeria’s creative landscape,” Ojekunle added.
