Trump Grammy Trevor Noah lawsuit as US president criticises the awards ceremony and threatens legal action over Epstein-related remarks

United States President Donald Trump has launched a scathing attack on the Grammy Awards, describing the ceremony as “virtually unwatchable” and accusing its host, Trevor Noah, of making a false and defamatory statement about him.

Trump made the remarks in a post on his Truth Social platform on Monday, where he labelled the Grammys one of the “worst” award shows and claimed broadcaster CBS was “fortunate” to no longer air what he described as “garbage.”

The president also criticised Noah’s performance as host, unfavourably comparing him to late-night television personality Jimmy Kimmel.

Trump’s reaction followed a comment made by Noah during the awards ceremony in which he referenced Trump and former US President Bill Clinton while discussing convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Strongly denying any association with Epstein’s private island, Trump insisted that he had never visited the location or been linked to it in any form.

“I have never been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close,” Trump wrote, adding that he had never previously been accused of such by the media.

He described Noah’s comment as incorrect and defamatory, warning that he was considering legal action against the comedian.

The president referred to Noah as a “pathetic” and “talentless” host and suggested his legal team could pursue a lawsuit seeking damages.

Trump also alluded to previous legal disputes involving media personalities, saying they had “worked out well” in his favour.
