Toyin Abraham emotional plea feud intensifies as the filmmaker urges supporters to forgive Abika Shugaa and stop online attacks amid ongoing dispute

Nigerian filmmaker and actress Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi on Monday issued a powerful emotional appeal calling on her supporters to stop attacking her former protégé Pelumi Olawuni, popularly known as Abika Shugaa, as their public dispute continues to generate widespread online debate.

Toyin addressed her fan base, known as Toyin Titans, in a Snapchat video, urging them to forgive Abika Shugaa and move on from the controversy.

She pleaded for calm, stressing that anger should not define their response to the ongoing situation.

“Please, to everybody, it’s okay. Please forgive her,” Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi said.

“There is no one that cannot get angry. Even Jesus was angry… let everything slide. This is a new week. Toyin Titans, no distractions, please,” she added.

Toyin Abraham emotional plea feud follows days of heightened tension after Abika Shugaa released a video detailing her version of events surrounding their relationship.

The footage, which has attracted significant attention online, included allegations of control, betrayal, and threats, claims that Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi has firmly denied.

In her message, Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi also shifted focus to her professional commitments, noting that she is preparing for several upcoming YouTube productions as well as a major project scheduled for December.

She described the workload ahead as demanding but important.

“We have a big task ahead of us. We have a lot of YouTube movies coming, and we have a bigger task ahead of us in December,” she said.

The filmmaker also referenced the backlash she faced in 2023 and 2024 following her public support for President Bola Tinubu, stating that the criticism during that period was intense and deeply personal.

“For those asking why I didn’t spill the tea in 2023 and 2024… they were bashing me that period, they wanted to kill me,” she said.

Toyin added that her recent experiences have reshaped her approach to relationships and boundaries, suggesting that lessons had been learnt on both sides of the dispute.

“You said create boundaries, I will create boundaries. You said I should stop helping people, no problem. I have learnt my lesson, her too has learnt hers. Let it slide, let us change the topic,” she said.

The dispute escalated after Abika Shugaa’s video surpassed 100,000 views and was later flagged by YouTube for privacy concerns, with options given for edits or removal.

Abika Shugaa claimed the action followed mass reporting by critics.

Tensions were further heightened after Abika Shugaa accepted a PR package from Funke Akindele for the film A Tribe Called Judah, an action she insisted had been communicated in advance.

While Abika Shugaa continues to share her account after what she describes as years of silence, Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi has maintained her position of avoiding a detailed public exchange, instead urging her supporters to allow the matter to settle.
