The Fédération Internationale de Football Association confirmed the track’s debut via Sony Music Latin, positioning the collaboration as a bridge between Latin American and African rhythmic traditions on the world’s most prominent sporting stage.

FIFA World Cup anthem serves as a motivational call to action, centred on themes of resilience and global unity.

Shakira, who has previously delivered era-defining tournament hits such as “Waka Waka,” announced the release through social media, declaring that the road to the 2026 competition has formally begun.

A significant humanitarian element defines this latest FIFA World Cup anthem.

The governing body confirmed that all royalties generated by the track will be diverted to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.

This ambitious project seeks to raise $100 million by the tournament’s conclusion to enhance educational access and sporting opportunities for children internationally.

Shakira has pledged her personal share of the earnings to the fund, while Sony Music has committed to matching the initial $250,000 in revenue.

The lyrics pay homage to a pantheon of footballing legends, ranging from Pelé and Diego Maradona to contemporary stars such as Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé, further grounding the song in the history of the sport.

The inclusion of Burna Boy represents a historic milestone for the Nigerian music industry.

He becomes only the second artist from the nation to feature on an official FIFA World Cup anthem, following Davido’s participation in the 2022 soundtrack.

This partnership highlights the increasing dominance of Afrobeats within the global mainstream.

The momentum for the tournament, co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States, continues to build with the news that Nigerian superstar Rema will headline the opening ceremony in Los Angeles.
