Omah Lay celebrates first Grammy nomination for “With You” with Davido but says awards aren’t his focus, prioritising his collaborator’s win

Afrobeats singer Omah Lay has shared mixed feelings about his first-ever Grammy nomination, marking the milestone while downplaying the personal significance of awards in his career.

The artist received the nod for his collaboration with Davido on the track “With You,” which is nominated for Best African Music Performance at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards.

In an Instagram post on his fan platform, Omah Lay expressed his excitement over the recognition but emphasised that awards hold little value for him personally.

Instead, he celebrated Davido, calling him his most loyal supporter through challenging times and expressing a strong wish for his friend to finally claim the Grammy.

“I’m excited about this Grammy nomination haha but fr fr I don’t give a sh!t about awards. Yeah but I really want it for OBO! He is the realest friend I’ve had in a while; he stood by me during my hardest times,” Omah Lay wrote.

Davido, who has four previous Grammy nominations but has yet to win, remains one of Afrobeats’ dominant figures.

The 2026 Grammy Awards are scheduled for February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, where the Best African Music Performance category will again spotlight the continent’s top talent.
