Olamide has stepped forward to ease tensions after his recent comment ranking Wizkid as the greatest Afrobeats artist after Fela Kuti ignited heated debate online.

Olamide clarified his position following widespread reactions that trailed his remark during a press briefing in Toronto, Canada, where fans sharply disagreed over the hierarchy of Afrobeats stars.

The rapper stressed that the industry is vast enough for every artist to thrive, noting that music lovers can freely support their favourites without diminishing the achievements of others.

He described the argument as unnecessary, reminding fans that greatness is not limited to any category or label and that the sky is wide enough for everyone.

In a message shared with followers, he wrote that people should feel comfortable believing whatever they choose while respecting the craft of all artists, whether A-list or otherwise. According to him, opinions will always differ, but that should not undermine the collective progress of the genre.

Olamide also highlighted that leading stars like Burna Boy, Davido and Wizkid are too focused and mature to be bothered by public comparisons. He said their success stems partly from refusing to be distracted by debates over rankings, urging fans to adopt the same openness and avoid hostility.
