Olamide Clarifies He Is Laid-Back, Not Shy

Nigerian rapper Olamide Gbenga Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide Badoo, has clarified misconceptions about his personality, saying he is laid-back rather than shy.

The YBNL boss made the revelation during an interview with Ada’s Room on Tuesday.

Olamide explained that his calm and reserved demeanor is often mistaken for shyness, but he insists it does not reflect a lack of confidence or charisma.

“One thing I wish people could understand about me is I am not shy, I am just laid back,” he said.

The rapper emphasised that being laid-back simply means he prefers not to be bothered, rather than a reluctance to engage with people.

“Shy is when you don’t have the confidence and the charisma to stand people or look them in the eye or have conversations with them.

But being laid back is you just don’t want to be bothered. People think I am shy but I am not,” Olamide added.

This clarification comes amid ongoing discussions in the music industry about his public persona, following his previous remarks recognising Wizkid as a senior artist and the greatest Afrobeat performer.

Olamide’s comments underline his desire to separate public perception from his personal approach to social interactions, highlighting a calm, self-assured image that contrasts with misinterpretations of shyness.
