In a video circulating on social media, Odumeje praised Davido as a generational talent, saying no award could diminish the impact of his music.

“There is one of our brothers that I love so much. That is a very great musician, and that is Davido… You are already a generational award,” the cleric said.

He urged the singer not to let the Grammy loss or public criticism dampen his spirit. “Don’t allow ordinary somebody to come and begin to quench the fire of your joy.

Go out and get more inspiration to shock the world with new music,” Odumeje added.

At the 2026 Grammys, South African singer Tyla won the Best African Music Performance award, beating Nigerian nominees including Davido, Burna Boy, and Ayra Starr.
