The donation includes a multi-slice CT scanner, a backup generator, and a full set of imaging accessories. Delivered and installed with precision, this intervention is expected to drastically reduce fatalities from trauma and other critical conditions requiring urgent radiological attention.

“This is a game-changer for the hospital, for the state, and for the country,” said Chief Medical Director, Dr Olatunde Alabi.

“We can now respond swiftly to emergencies, improve patient care, support research, and enhance the training of medical personnel.”

The hospital serves as the only federal tertiary health centre along Nigeria’s major North-South highway routes.

Until now, patients requiring CT imaging had to be transferred over two hours away to Abuja, a delay that often cost lives.

For years, the hospital struggled to obtain a CT machine, with budget constraints and failed public-private partnerships keeping a newly built CT suite dormant—until NLNG’s timely donation.

This is a game-changer for the hospital, for the state, and for the country.

The facilitation came through Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, former Chair of the Senate Committee on Local Content.

During her inspection of the installation, she praised the NLNG and noted the machine’s potential to meet the “ever-increasing health needs of the people of Kogi State and beyond.”

The new machine is now operational, with five radiologists and five radiographers—one trained in India—ready to deliver high-quality diagnostic services.

The hospital has created a revolving fund for sustainability, committed to continuous staff training, and guaranteed prompt maintenance to minimise any operational disruptions.

Dr Patricia, a senior consultant at the hospital, also expressed deep appreciation.

“In just two weeks, almost every department has benefited from the CT Scan. Before now we referred patients to Abuja or Ilorin and sadly some died on transit. Your efforts have saved lives.”

She added a heartfelt tribute to Senator Natasha: “The Creator of the lives you have touched will continue to protect you. We will always count on your support.”
