Nick Reiner Not Cleared for Court Over Parents’ Murder

Nick Reiner, 32, son of famed Hollywood director Rob Reiner, was not medically cleared to appear in court Tuesday as he awaits formal charges over the double murder of his parents, his lawyer said.

Reiner, who has a history of substance abuse dating back to his teenage years, is expected to be arraigned once cleared by medical authorities.

“Every single inmate goes through a medical clearance before they can be transported,” lawyer Alan Jackson told reporters, describing the process as “procedural.”

Jackson added that the sheriff’s department would review his condition daily, with hopes that Reiner could appear in court as soon as he is medically cleared.

The Reiners’ bodies were discovered Sunday at their Brentwood home in Los Angeles.

Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, 70, had reportedly been stabbed to death.

Reports suggest that an argument between Nick Reiner and his parents occurred at a Hollywood party on Saturday evening.

The bodies were found by the couple’s daughter, who reportedly told police that another family member was responsible.

Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan is expected to provide further updates on the case later Tuesday.

Rob Reiner, son of comedian Carl Reiner, built a celebrated Hollywood career as a director and actor.

His iconic works include When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men, This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, and Stand By Me.

A Few Good Men earned an Oscar nomination for Best Picture.

Following news of his death, tributes poured in from entertainers and politicians.

Actor-director Ben Stiller described Rob Reiner as “a kind, caring person who was really really funny,” while former President Barack Obama said he and his wife were “heartbroken.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom also praised Reiner for his impact on the state.

Former President Donald Trump, however, controversially blamed the Reiners’ deaths on Rob Reiner’s criticism of him, drawing sharp condemnation from political figures, including Republican Representative Thomas Massie, who called Trump’s remarks “inappropriate and disrespectful.”

Nick Reiner’s arraignment remains pending, and authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deaths of his parents.
