Mohbad Death Stir New Reactions

Mohbad death addressed in new documentary. The singer denies bullying or foul play, shares his version of events leading to Mohbad’s death

Naira Marley Mohbad death controversy has resurfaced following the release of a two-hour documentary where the music star, Azeez Fashola, known as Naira Marley, presents his side of the events leading up to the tragic death of his former signee, Promise Aloba, popularly called Mohbad.

The Soapy crooner strongly denied allegations of bullying or harming Mohbad, who passed away on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27. He said, “I never bullied Mohbad. I didn’t kill him. I loved him.”

A Troubled Relationship and Drug Use Concerns

Naira Marley recalled how in June 2020, Mohbad admitted to using “Ice,” a street name for crack cocaine.

“I wasn’t angry. I spoke to him like a brother. I warned him about the damage it causes,” he said, referencing his past experiences in the UK.

The artist stressed that their business relationship was fair and transparent.

“We did 50-50. I paid for everything, and we split the profits.”

He also revealed that Mohbad chose his own manager, with Naira stepping in to reduce the proposed management cut from 25% to 10%.

Allegations, NDLEA Raid & Mental Health Issues

Naira Marley addressed the NDLEA raid in February 2022, which led to Mohbad’s arrest.

He claimed the live Instagram video where Mohbad accused him of threats and said, “If I die, it’s Marlian Music, Naira Marley,” happened during a panic attack.

He further revealed that Mohbad attempted suicide in March 2022, citing drug use and emotional distress.

“I spoke to his parents. We tried to get him help,” Marley added.

He also denied the claim that Mohbad was afraid of hospitals, sharing WhatsApp chats from 2020 that allegedly show Mohbad visited a clinic.

Legal Split and Money Disputes

According to Marley, Mohbad officially notified Marlian Music of his intent to leave in October 2022.

However, he claimed Mohbad withdrew $72,000 in royalties afterward without settling finances.

“We held some of his payments back to recover the funds. After that, I never heard from him or his lawyers,” Marley said.

He insists he was in Amsterdam at the time of Mohbad’s death and believes those who were with the singer in his final hours should face more scrutiny.

“I Never Sent Anyone to Harm Him”

Naira Marley strongly denied ever sending people to threaten or assault Mohbad and said his associate, Sam Larry, also declared innocence.

“I’ve never sent anyone to bully him. I was wrongly detained for two months trying to clear my name,” Marley added.

He ended the documentary by stating that Mohbad’s royalties remain untouched and can be claimed by his family through legal channels.
