Foluke Daramola Makes Heartfelt Plea Against Silent Suffering

Foluke Daramola urges people facing difficult times to speak out, seek help and support one another instead of suffering silently

Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola has urged people facing personal difficulties to speak out and seek support, making the heartfelt appeal at the candlelight and night of tribute for late actress Temitope Osoba in Lagos on Tuesday, August 11, 2026.

Daramola said many people conceal their struggles because they fear being judged or shamed, even when they desperately need someone to listen or offer assistance.

Speaking to Goldmyne TV during the tribute event, the actress acknowledged that people often appear fine outwardly while privately dealing with serious challenges.

“We don’t speak out, maybe because of shaming. We can be there for one another,” Daramola said.

She stressed that people should not assume that others are unwilling to help simply because support is not immediately available.

According to Daramola, everyone has personal battles that can make it difficult to recognise when someone else is struggling.

“It is when we wear clothes that we feel that everything is okay,” she said, encouraging people experiencing difficulties to allow trusted people into their situations.

Her appeal came against the emotional backdrop of a gathering held to honour Osoba, whose death has prompted grief and reflection among members of the Yoruba film community.

Daramola urged people experiencing hardship to resist the temptation to endure their problems alone.

“Please, if you have issues, speak out, so we can help each other,” she said.

The actress also offered a balanced reminder that support systems can have limitations because individuals themselves may be dealing with private difficulties.

“We can’t blame anyone for not being there, because we all have our own personal issues,” she added.

Daramola’s comments placed a human focus on an otherwise sombre occasion, turning attention towards the importance of compassion, openness and community during difficult periods.

Her message also speaks to a wider reality within the entertainment industry, where public visibility can sometimes obscure the private challenges faced by performers and other creative professionals.

By encouraging people to speak honestly about their circumstances, Daramola highlighted a simple but powerful principle: asking for help can be an important first step towards receiving it.
