Film in the Park Festival Returns Bigger with Bold New Vision
Fill in the Park Festival returns Sept 21 in Lagos with films, live shows, and networking, spotlighting emerging African filmmakers’ stories
The Film in the Park Festival is back, and this year it promises to be bigger, bolder, and more impactful.

Tomiwa Precious Otun, the rising film producer behind the event, is gearing up for the second edition, scheduled for September 21 at Freedom Park, Broad Street, Lagos Island.
Following the success of last year’s maiden outing, Tomiwa says this year’s festival will feature over 10 film screenings, live performances, storytelling, and community engagement.
The event aims to create a space where emerging African filmmakers can share authentic stories that reflect the continent’s realities, resilience, and creativity.
“This festival promises a showcase of cinematic brilliance where film becomes a powerful tool for cultural documentation and social change,” Tomiwa explained.
Beyond the screenings, attendees can expect meet-and-greet sessions with producers, business networking opportunities, musical performances by up-and-coming artists, relaxing viewing experiences, and fun games.
Tomiwa reminisced about the magic of cinema, describing the communal awe and excitement felt during the first cinema visits—feelings the festival hopes to rekindle for a new generation.
“The vision is firmly rooted in purpose. Unlike music, films have a unique and lasting impact, etching themselves into our collective memories,” she added.
