The spat began when Gawat shared a poster for the concert with the caption: “Ọmọ Wa ni.” In response to a fan praising Wizkid as “the face of Lagos,” Gawat affirmed, “Yes correct.

We are proud of him.” When another fan referenced Davido, asking “Ore oga nko?”, Gawat replied: “My Oga is proud of him.”

Davido fired back on X, quoting Gawat: “Bro it’s been a year let it go … why e still dey do u .. grow up.” He later referenced an earlier tweet by Gawat that read “Ọrẹ Ọga wa ni,” adding, “Since yesterday… let it go nah … cheer up.”

This incident follows previous clashes between the Afrobeats star and the Lagos government aide. On 21 September 2024, Davido and Gawat exchanged heated messages over political differences, sparked by Davido’s tweet calling the Independent National Electoral Commission “the most dangerous institution in Nigeria” amid the Edo State governorship election. Gawat, an APC member, responded cryptically, prompting a further exchange in which Davido accused him of opportunistic behaviour.
