The intensive three-day workshop, held at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), focused on ethics, investigative journalism, fact-checking, and the use of AI in modern reporting.

Organised by the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) with support from the Norwegian Embassy, the training drew campus journalists and Mass Communication students from UNIZIK, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, and Federal Polytechnic, Oko.

The CJID Journalism Training initiative is part of the organisation’s Next Gen/Campus Reporter project.

Participants were mentored by seasoned media professionals, including Premium Times’ Managing Editor Idris Akinbajo and CJID’s Deputy Director, Busola Ajibola.

Students also learned how to navigate challenges like misinformation through fact-checking strategies taught by Dubawa’s Lois Ugbede.

The power-packed sessions concluded with hands-on group reporting tasks, reviewed by the facilitators.

Many attendees called the CJID Journalism Training impactful, especially with the upcoming Anambra governorship election on the horizon.
