Chris Brown Appears in UK Court Over Nightclub Assault

Chris Brown UK Court Appearance — American R&B star Chris Brown made a surprise appearance at Southwark Crown Court in London on Friday for a hearing linked to an alleged nightclub assault.

The 36-year-old singer faces accusations of attacking music producer Abraham Diaw with a bottle during a fight at Tape nightclub in Mayfair on 19 February 2023.

Brown, who has pleaded not guilty to charges of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm and assault causing actual bodily harm, attended the hearing alongside co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu, a 38-year-old Dallas rapper and producer. Both deny the allegations.

Although not required to attend, Brown appeared in court and briefly confirmed his name. Prosecutors allege the singer carried out an “unprovoked attack,” striking Diaw multiple times with a bottle and continuing to punch and kick him as he fell. CCTV footage reportedly captured the incident.

Brown was arrested in Manchester on 15 May after arriving in the UK for the first time since the alleged attack. He was later released from HMP Forest Bank on 21 May after posting £5 million bail, which allowed him to continue his “Breezy Bowl XX” tour.
