Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B is facing a civil lawsuit for battery, assault, and negligence after allegedly hitting a concertgoer with a microphone during a performance at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas on July 29, 2023.

The lawsuit, filed by an Ohio woman identified only as “Jane Doe,” seeks both compensatory and punitive damages, accusing Cardi B of reacting wi th “apparent anger and without warning” when she hurled a microphone into the crowd.
The incident, which was captured on video and went viral across social media, occurred during a daytime set where the artist was performing under scorching temperatures.
According to court filings, Cardi B had requested the crowd to splash her with water to cool her down.
The plaintiff claims she complied by lightly tossing a small amount of liquid toward the stage similar to other attendees.
However, she alleges that Cardi B suddenly threw her microphone “directly” at her, resulting in unconsented physical contact that left her with injuries and emotional trauma.
The microphone made contact with the plaintiff, causing severe emotional distress, shock, humiliation, and physical injury.
Jane Doe further argues that Cardi B’s actions were retaliatory, excessive, and irresponsible, especially considering the public setting and the foreseeable risk of injury.
Her legal team asserts that the rapper’s conduct has led to both physical harm and reputational damage for their client.
While the microphone allegedly hit multiple individuals, only Jane Doe has come forward with legal action so far. Cardi B has not yet issued an official public response to the lawsuit.
