The promoter claimed the former Big Brother Naija housemate was paid to perform at a show in Halifax but failed to show up, absconding with a deposit and refusing to issue a refund.

In a statement released on her social media platform, Tolani Baj denied the allegations, stating clearly that she arrived at the venue prepared to perform but was hindered by technical problems.

“I want to take a moment to address some of the false narratives circulating about the recent event in Halifax,” she wrote.

“I was booked for a show, I showed up excited and fully ready to perform, which there’s visible proof of on my page.”

She explained that the organisers did not conduct the sound check required in her contract, which led to a last-minute technical failure involving the DJ controller.

It’s quite disappointing to be called names or accused of theft when I was present at the venue and ready to deliver.

According to her, the malfunction made it impossible to perform as planned.

“Had the sound check been done, the issue could’ve been caught and resolved before the performance,” she added.

Tolani Baj also pointed out that she only received 50% of the agreed fee due to the disruptions and added that poor weather conditions had further affected the show’s timing.

“It’s quite disappointing to be called names or accused of theft when I was present at the venue and ready to deliver,” she stated.

However, Tolani Baj maintains her stance that the cancellation was not her fault and says the matter highlights the need for proper event logistics.
