Speaking during a recent episode of the podcast Way Up with Angela Yee, the 23-year-old likened Nigerian men to their New York counterparts in terms of reliability and assurance.

Ayra Starr highlighted that, although she has personal reservations about some individuals, many Nigerian men are notably supportive of their wives or girlfriends.

“Nigerian men love to take care of their women. They are very supportive of their wife or girlfriend. They are very very confident, so it is almost the same thing as New York men. But you know, men are men. A man is a man still. It is universal thing,” she said.

The singer has previously been subject to online criticism concerning her character and fashion choices. Her recent remarks, however, emphasise the positive attributes she observes, including care, confidence, and commitment in relationships.
