Asake loyalty to Olamide reaffirmed as singer dismisses rumours of a rift and praises YBNL boss in new interview with Korty EO
Nigerian Afrobeats star Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has reaffirmed his loyalty to YBNL boss Olamide Adedeji, insisting that fame and global success have not changed his respect for the rapper and record executive.
The Asake loyalty to Olamide comments were made during a recent interview with YouTuber Korty EO, where the “Sungba” hitmaker reflected on his career journey, personal growth, and industry controversies surrounding his relationship with his former label.
Asake stated emphatically that his admiration for Olamide remains intact regardless of his rise to international recognition.
“Till the world ends, Baddo will always be Baddo… even if I become the president of America or Zimbabwe,” he said, underscoring his enduring respect for the YBNL founder.
The remarks come amid lingering speculation about tensions between both artistes following social media changes in late 2024, when Asake removed YBNL from his bio and unfollowed Olamide online.
The move fuelled widespread rumours of a split after his rapid rise under the label in 2022.
Industry reactions at the time included public gestures of support for Olamide from fellow artiste Wizkid, while neither Asake nor Olamide directly confirmed any fallout.
Although reports suggested that Asake may have opted against renewing his contract with YBNL in favour of independence, the singer has now moved to dispel narratives of conflict with his latest comments.
Beyond addressing rumours, Asake reflected on his difficult early years, describing 2020 as a defining moment that reshaped his outlook and career path.
He noted that periods of struggle ultimately prepared him for later success, which he now views as part of a larger journey of growth.
The singer also spoke about his global ambitions, revealing a long-standing desire to live in the United States, particularly California, where he felt inspired to pursue broader opportunities.
While acknowledging that financial success has given him freedom, Asake stressed that wealth does not resolve all of life’s challenges, noting the importance of resilience and personal discipline.
He further opened up about his family life, including a previously reported dispute with his father, Fatai Odunsi, which was later resolved following reconciliation.
In recent months, Asake has also drawn public attention for high-profile gestures towards his parents, as well as his growing focus on spirituality, including a pilgrimage to Mecca during Ramadan for Umrah.
Together, his remarks present a portrait of an artiste balancing global fame with loyalty, personal reflection, and evolving identity within and beyond the music industry.
