Afrobeats superstar Asake says he loves money for freedom and solving 80% of his problems, sharing insights on lifestyle and generosity

Afrobeats superstar Asake, born Ahmed Ololade, has revealed why he loves money, citing the freedom it provides and its ability to solve most of life’s problems.

The Lagos-based musician made the remarks in an interview with indie filmmaker and podcaster Korty EO on Tuesday, 19 March 2026.

Speaking in Yoruba, Asake explained that wealth enables personal freedom, saying, “I love the freedom money gives me. It doesn’t solve all my problems, but it solves 80% of my problems.”

The singer, popularly nicknamed Mr. Money, highlighted how financial independence allows him to indulge in luxury cars and jewellery while maintaining a high-profile lifestyle.

Since returning to Nigeria in December 2025, Asake has expanded his car collection to five vehicles in Lagos.

He recently gifted his mother a Mercedes-Benz G Wagon worth over 500 million naira for her birthday and his father a Toyota Prado Land Cruiser valued at more than 200 million naira.

The singer also added a Rolls-Royce and a second G Wagon to his personal fleet, demonstrating his status as one of Africa’s leading music stars.

In the interview, Asake reflected on his rise to fame, tracing his journey back to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, where he studied Dramatic Arts.

His campus performances and dedication to music helped him gain recognition early in his career.

Asake’s mother recounted how family friend and actor Muyideen Oladapo, known as Lala, persuaded her to allow him to study at OAU rather than in the United Kingdom, ultimately shaping his path to stardom.

Asake’s career momentum continues in 2026 with a four-track EP collaboration with Wizkid, which has dominated streaming charts.
