Afrobeats Star Rave Credits Family for Music Journey

Afrobeats singer Rave credits his musical family for his career and announces his debut EP “PWAFUKADI,” set for release on December 12, 2025

Afrobeats singer Pwafukadi Sunday, popularly known as Rave, has attributed his journey into music to his family’s deep-rooted love for the art form, describing the genre’s future as bright due to the creativity of young talents.

Rave, who hails from Adamawa State, has been involved in music for over a decade and grew up in a household of eight where musical activity was a constant presence.

Several of his siblings were active in church music groups, a setting he said naturally shaped his path.

“My family’s love for music inspired me. I grew up in a house full of music lovers… being the last child in such a musical atmosphere naturally pushed me into making music,” he said.

Speaking on Afrobeats’ global rise, he added: “The future of Afrobeats is bright. It is in the hands of great music creatives who are ready to work and push the culture to all corners of the world.”

Though he has been performing for over a decade, Rave officially began releasing music three years ago, debuting with the track Jah. He described his distinctive sound as a blend of unique melodies and Arewa rhythms that set him apart in the industry.

Rave is set to release his debut EP, PWAFUKADI, on December 12, 2025.

The nine-track project—named after his tribal name, meaning “God has honoured him”—draws inspiration from his culture, personal experiences, and artistic growth.

Producers on the EP include ShifuPro, Elmore, Stranger, Marius, and Keys To The City.

Signed to Abuja-based Login Records, Rave revealed his dream collaborations with Asake, Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, noting that Asake particularly inspires him.

Reflecting on lessons learned in his career, Rave emphasised the importance of character: “Humility will take you further than your talent can. Talent is essential, but humility brings favour—something every rising artist truly needs.”

He also urged government support for the entertainment industry through competitions and talent hunts that create opportunities for emerging musicians.

Rave’s educational journey included Emmanuel Standard Academy and St. Mary’s C.R.I., Yola, before attending the Nigerian Army University, Biu.
