Speaking in an exclusive interview with TONY OKUYEME, Ayodele revealed that her fascination with human emotions and behaviour inspired her to pursue acting.

“Acting became the most natural way for me to explore questions about what drives people, what breaks them, and what heals them,” she said.

On selecting projects, Ayodele emphasised purpose and resonance.

She prioritises scripts that challenge her and explore meaningful human stories, noting that honesty in storytelling draws her to a project.

Her theatre experiences, she said, shaped her artistic discipline and humility.

“Being part of an ensemble where everyone must breathe as one sharpened my sense of responsibility. Theatre trained me to be present, generous, and truthful,” she explained.

The actress highlighted the rewards and challenges of her profession.

“The most rewarding part is when someone tells me my performance helped them see themselves differently. The biggest challenge is vulnerability; every role asks me to peel back another layer of myself.”

Ayodele also described how a particularly intense role portraying silent trauma related to the Chibok story helped her confront personal emotional shadows, reinforcing her belief that storytelling can be a form of healing.

On transitioning into stage and production management, she cited organisation, communication, and emotional intelligence as essential skills.

“A production manager must be the calm in the chaos, balancing artistic intention with logistical reality,” she said.

Ayodele also discussed her makeup artistry, describing it as “invisible architecture” that communicates emotion and character before dialogue begins.

She constantly studies global trends while ensuring character truth remains central.

When asked about challenges, she recounted a production that lost a major cast member days before opening.

“Panic was inevitable, but we overcame it through spontaneity and collective strength. The show became one of our most powerful,” she said.

Reflecting on personal adversity, Ayodele acknowledged experiences of bullying and underestimation in the industry, but credited professionalism, setting boundaries, and surrounding herself with respectful colleagues as key to overcoming such challenges.

Looking ahead, she hopes to tackle psychologically complex roles and produce original stories highlighting African narratives with global impact.

“Curiosity inspires me,” she said.
