Adedeji Adeleke, who is also the father of music star Davido, made the disclosure while speaking on his investments in Nigeria’s energy sector.

He stated that he owns power plants and operates within the energy industry, adding that his companies contribute significantly to electricity generation in the country.

Adeleke further explained that he is currently constructing what he described as the largest power plant in Nigeria’s history, valued at $2 billion and designed to generate 1,250 megawatts of electricity.

The statement quickly gained traction online, with Nigerians expressing a mix of admiration, surprise and scepticism over the scale of the project.

Some social media users praised the development, describing it as a potential breakthrough for Nigeria’s struggling power sector and a major boost to the national grid.

Others reacted with doubt, questioning the feasibility of the claim and demanding more transparency around large-scale private sector involvement in electricity generation.

A section of commentators also linked the announcement to broader discussions about wealth concentration and business influence in Nigeria’s infrastructure sector.

Despite the divided reactions, the announcement has intensified public interest in private sector participation in power generation, a critical challenge facing Africa’s largest economy.
