VDM reignites Mohbad case with renewed energy, says he now has money, followers, and influence to fight for justice over late singer’s death

Controversial Nigerian activist and social media figure, Vincent Otse Martins, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has declared that the fight for justice over the death of late singer Mohbad is far from over.

In a bold Instagram post, the outspoken influencer reignited the conversation, claiming he is now better equipped to pursue the matter with renewed energy and resources.

“Unlike before, I have more engagement, influence, followers, and most importantly more money. So it is the right time for me to fight on this matter,” VeryDarkMan wrote.

He emphasised that his platform has grown significantly, giving him both the reach and the financial capacity to push the case forward.

Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Aloba, died under mysterious circumstances in 2023. His death sparked widespread outrage and calls for justice.

While investigations were launched, public interest in the case seemed to fade over time. But for VeryDarkMan, the mission is far from complete.

“They think say the matter don quench… E never quench,” he said, pushing back against critics who have accused him of using the tragedy for clout or personal gain.

VeryDarkMan also disclosed that he has already spent close to ₦3 million on his advocacy efforts. He revealed that part of the money went to Mohbad’s former driver, whom he gave ₦300,000 and a job offer.

In addition, he said he has extended support to Primeboy, a former associate of Mohbad whose career was derailed after being linked to the controversy.

“These people were left in the dark,” he said. “I did what I could, and I’ll do more. This is not just noise. It’s a mission.”

Despite criticism, the activist stands firm in his belief that his efforts are genuine. He maintains that his increasing popularity only strengthens his ability to pursue the truth.

His fan base, called The Ratel, is now part of the movement. According to him, their passion and support make them the most powerful social force in Nigeria.

“My fanbase is the strongest in this country,” he declared. “The Ratel don’t play.”

VeryDarkMan’s comment underscores the growing influence of social media activism in Nigeria, where digital platforms have become vital tools for advocacy and grassroots mobilisation.

Over the past year, he has built a reputation for wading into controversial issues and challenging public figures.

While his methods often spark debate, many admire his courage to speak on topics that others shy away from.

Critics, however, argue that his confrontational style sometimes overshadows the message. In response, he says: “People can say what they like. What matters is the impact.”

This recent declaration is a clear signal that he has no intention of letting Mohbad’s case go cold.

With more resources at his disposal and a louder voice online, VeryDarkMan is preparing for what he calls a new phase of the battle for justice.

Whether or not new developments will emerge remains uncertain, but one thing is clear—VeryDarkMan is determined to keep the late singer’s name alive in the public eye.
