Uriel slams age discrimination against women in a powerful new message targeted at Nigerian men.

In a candid video shared online, Uriel Oputa called ageing a privilege and a divine gift that should never be ridiculed.

She condemned those who focus on a woman’s age instead of engaging with the content of her message, branding such behaviour as insulting and ignorant.

“So I want to say a quick one and this is going to be pinpointed to Nigerian men. It’s an absolute insult to humanity, to God, to use age discrimination against a woman,” she said.

“I post a video and instead of learning something from it, the takeaway for some is ‘oh, you’re old’. That’s not intelligence, that’s deflection.”

It is better to get older than to be six feet under. Some billionaires would give anything just to sell pure water again.

Uriel emphasised that ageing should be seen as growth, not decline.

She urged Nigerians to reject the obsession with youth and superficiality, reminding her audience that many wealthy people would trade everything for one more day of life.

“It is better to get older than to be six feet under. Some billionaires would give anything just to sell pure water again,” she said in the emotional video.

Beyond criticism, Uriel’s message was a call for reflection. She encouraged people to appreciate the beauty of each stage of life and to measure success by impact, not age.

Captioning the video, she wrote: “There is NO shame in aging. Aging is a privilege. I’d rather grow older in purpose than be six feet under with regrets. Some people have all the money in the world and still wish they had one more day to breathe. Don’t mock what you don’t understand. One day, life will remind you.”

Uriel’s passionate defence of self-worth and dignity at any age adds to a growing conversation about the role of ageism in Nigerian society, especially against women.
