Tyler Perry Denies $77M Sexual Assault Claim

Tyler Perry denies $77M sexual assault claim, calling the allegations “frivolous” and part of an alleged extortion attempt

Hollywood filmmaker and media mogul Tyler Perry has strongly denied a $77 million sexual assault lawsuit filed by actor Mario Rodriguez, describing the claims as “frivolous” and an attempt to extort money.

Rodriguez, who appeared alongside Perry in the 2016 film Boo! A Madea Halloween, alleged that Perry made unwanted sexual advances on multiple occasions between 2014 and 2019.

The lawsuit was filed on 25 December 2025 in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Perry’s legal team, led by attorney Alex Spiro, responded on 27 February 2026, stating that the allegations “have no basis in fact or law and no merit.”

Court documents obtained by TMZ indicate that Rodriguez held a minor role in the movie and repeatedly sought financial support from Perry.

The filing claims that when Perry ceased providing financial assistance, Rodriguez allegedly fabricated the allegations to generate a media firestorm and secure a financial settlement.

The lawsuit reportedly sought compensation for expenses including rent, a car, unpaid bills, and medical services.

This legal development follows a separate $260 million sexual harassment lawsuit filed against Perry in June 2025 by actor Derek Dixon.

Perry’s team emphasised that both lawsuits are unsubstantiated and the claims are being vigorously contested in court.
