Tiwa Savage Accepts Teni’s Fight Challenge

Tiwa Savage accepts Teni’s fight challenge after the Nigerian singer called for a boxing bout in a playful social media exchange

Nigerian singer and songwriter Tiwa Savage has accepted a playful fight challenge from fellow singer Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni, in a social media exchange that has sparked excitement among fans.

Teni issued the challenge in a video shared on Instagram, directly calling on Tiwa Savage to face her in what appeared to be a proposed celebrity boxing bout.

“Mama!!! Make we fight @tiwasavage. 3 billion later, I go apologise for outside the boxing ring,” Teni wrote in the caption accompanying the video.

Tiwa responded shortly afterwards with an equally brief but confident message: “Pick a date.”

The exchange has generated interest among Nigerian entertainment followers, particularly after celebrity boxing returned to the spotlight following a recent bout involving former Big Brother Naija housemate Phyna and Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing.

Phyna defeated Nkechi Blessing in their celebrity boxing contest less than 72 hours before Teni issued her challenge to Tiwa.

The growing crossover between entertainment and boxing has provided Nigerian celebrities with a new platform for competitive and promotional spectacles, with high-profile personalities increasingly using social media to build anticipation around potential bouts.

For Tiwa and Teni, however, the latest exchange remains a playful challenge rather than a confirmed professional boxing event.

Neither singer has announced a date, venue, promoter or formal rules for the proposed fight.

Tiwa Savage, one of Nigeria’s most prominent Afrobeats singers, has enjoyed an international career spanning more than a decade, while Teni has established herself as one of the country’s leading contemporary entertainers with her energetic performances and distinctive personality.

Tiwa’s simple response, “Pick a date”, has nevertheless left the door open for the proposed encounter, with fans now waiting to see whether the social media challenge develops into an actual celebrity boxing event.
