Nigerian street pop sensation Inetimi Odon, popularly known as Timaya, has addressed speculation surrounding his supposed exit from music.

The singer clarified that he is not retiring but simply took a brief pause.

In a post shared via his official X account on Sunday, the Dem Mama hitmaker responded to the circulating rumours, dismissing any suggestion of retirement.

“No be say the boy retire, the boy just been dey sleep…,” he wrote, using his trademark informal tone to calm concerns from fans.

Timaya clears retirement rumour following a period of relative silence in the music scene.

Known for blending dancehall, Afrobeat, and highlife, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the sound of Nigerian street music since the early 2000s.

The Port Harcourt-born artist rose to prominence with his 2005 breakout track Dem Mama, which led to the release of his debut album True Story in 2006.
