Sunday’s Acting Revival was confirmed, by fellow actor Adeniyi Johnson, who shared a photo of the veteran on a movie set via Instagram, signalling his return to Nollywood production.

According to Adeniyi Johnson, Sunday Afolabi is currently featuring in a new film titled ILEKE, produced by actress Seyi Edun and directed by filmmaker Adebayo Tijani.

“Ladies and gentlemen @sundayafolabi22 is back!!! Available for shoots in and out of Lagos even Naija!! Versatile and professional to the core!!!” Adeniyi wrote, celebrating the actor’s return to active filmmaking.

The development follows a viral video that circulated online weeks earlier, showing Sunday Afolabi around a Lagos commercial bus where he was seen assisting passengers and engaging in typical conduct associated with public transport operations.

The footage sparked widespread concern across social media, with many users expressing sympathy over the veteran actor’s condition, as he appeared visibly aged and physically diminished.

In a previous interview in 2025 with actor Kunle Afod, Sunday Afolabi reportedly spoke about personal setbacks, including the death of his wife, which he said had a significant impact on his life and acting career.

Despite his challenges, Sunday Afolabi remains known for his consistent contributions to Yoruba-language films, where he built a career through supporting and character-driven roles over several years.
