The veteran Nollywood actress and filmmaker recently revealed how being truthful once cost her a major investment opportunity early in her career.
Sharing the experience on her Facebook page, George recounted an encounter over a decade ago with one of Nigeria’s wealthiest businessmen, which didn’t go as she had hoped.
At the time, still an emerging producer, she seized the chance to invite the billionaire to her movie premiere.
In a bold move, she asked if he would consider investing in her next project.
When asked how much she spent on the film, Shan George said she truthfully told him it cost ₦6 million—a significant amount back then.
Rather than being impressed by her transparency or ambition, the man dismissed her outright and became unreachable soon after.
Years later, George came across an interview where the same businessman reportedly stated that he “does not take little people seriously” when it comes to business.
Despite the disappointment, the actress remains unapologetic. In a powerfully worded post, she addressed the billionaire directly:
“Oga sir, I now make movies with $100 million. Just one Bitcoin, will you now invest? Or are we still too small?”
She went on to reflect that honesty can often hold people back in industries that prioritize appearances over substance. Still, she made it clear she refuses to fake success or “join the lying gang.”
This isn’t the first time Shan George has spoken out.
Known for calling out shady practices in Nollywood, she previously revealed being defrauded of her life savings and has consistently championed integrity in the entertainment industry.
