Rose Odika reveals her five-year infertility struggle and the painful separation that followed, urging women to avoid toxic marriages

In a candid interview with fellow actress Biola Bayo, the veteran Nollywood star revealed that she couldn’t conceive for the first five years of her marriage.

That struggle, she says, ultimately strained the relationship beyond repair.

“We got married and unfortunately the children weren’t coming. I didn’t get pregnant for the first five years,” Rose Odika shared emotionally. “My baby was one year and two months old when we separated finally. That’s the only child I have.”

The actress, revered for her longstanding presence in the Yoruba film industry, used the opportunity to speak openly about the pressure many women face in marriage — especially when children don’t come quickly.

She described herself as “one of the most decent actors in the industry,” and stressed that no woman should sacrifice her peace for a marriage that drains her.

“No need for toxic marriage — it isn’t worth it. It isn’t worth your life,” she advised.

Rose Odika also challenged societal expectations placed on women in the entertainment industry, urging men to respect their partners’ careers rather than trying to change them post-marriage.

“A man who met you as an actor should marry you as an actor. If he cannot stay with it, then he should go,” she said bluntly.

Her words have sparked conversations around infertility, emotional endurance, and the importance of self-worth — especially among women in high-pressure careers.
