Rema’s Rave & Roses Becomes Longest-Charting African Album

Rema’s ‘Rave & Roses’ sets a new record as the longest-charting African album on Billboard World Albums, reaching 170 weeks

The milestone surpasses the previous record held by Wizkid for Made In Lagos, which spent 164 weeks on the same chart last year.

Other notable African projects with extended Billboard chart presence include Tems’ Born In The Wild (79 weeks), Burna Boy’ Love, Damini (63 weeks), and the legendary Fela Kuti’ The Best Of The Black President (45 weeks).

In addition to the album achievement, Rema earned his second entry on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, with his single Secondhand featuring Don Toliver debuting at number 29.

Fellow Nigerian artist Tems also debuted on the Hot 100 with her new song What You Need, bringing her total Hot 100 appearances to seven-a joint African record alongside Burna Boy and South African group Seether.

Industry analysts say these milestones reflect the growing global influence of African artists and the increasing international appetite for Afrobeats and contemporary African music.
