PDP Disciplinary Committee says it cannot act against Nyesom Wike or any member without a formal petition and evidence from a willing petitioner

Speaking in Abuja, the Deputy National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okechukwu Osuoha, clarified that no disciplinary action can be enforced unless a written petition is submitted and supported by verifiable testimony.

“At our NEC meeting, we set up a disciplinary committee headed by Chief Tom Ikimi, with Eyitayo Jegede, SAN, as secretary,” Osuoha told Vanguard.
“They were empowered to address infractions, regardless of the person’s status in the party.”

He explained that despite public pressure and frequent questions regarding Wike’s alleged anti-party activities, no formal petition has been received, and therefore no action can be initiated.

“People often ask me specifically about the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike—why don’t we discipline him?” he said. “The answer is simple: a formal petition must be submitted, and the petitioner must be ready to testify.”

Osuoha emphasized that general allegations or media narratives are insufficient for disciplinary proceedings.

“You must present evidence. If the accused is invited, the complainant must appear and support their claims,” he added.

He also pointed out that the delay in enforcing internal discipline is symptomatic of broader systemic issues in Nigerian governance—highlighting the difficulty in moving from accusation to resolution.

“It’s not just a PDP issue. This reflects the larger Nigerian governance system. Allegations are common, but very few are pursued to a logical end,” he concluded.
