The remand application was heard and granted on Friday, September 4, 2026, with Ogbonna subsequently taken to the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre.

Awele Ideal, the lawyer representing Favour’s family, confirmed the development in a social media statement on Friday.

“Today the 4/9/2026, the application to remand Mr Ifeanyi Ogbonna (Odogwu Asaba) was heard and granted by the Court. He has now been remanded at the Ogwashi Uku Maximum Correctional Center,” Ideal said.

The development follows the release of autopsy and toxicology results relating to Favour’s death.

The results have reportedly been made available to the police investigation team alongside other evidence gathered during the investigation.

According to Ideal, the autopsy and toxicology findings have been incorporated into an investigation report being prepared for prosecution and trial.

The lawyer said Ogbonna would be brought before the court as the case progresses, while the Delta State Ministry of Justice, through the Attorney-General and Director of Public Prosecutions, is expected to handle the next stage of the prosecution.

The Odogwu Asaba remanded development marks a significant step in a case that has attracted public attention following Favour’s death.

However, the allegations against Ogbonna remain allegations at this stage. His remand is not a conviction, and the substantive issues will be determined through the judicial process.

Ideal said she would continue to represent Favour’s family and provide updates as the case progresses.

The involvement of the prosecution authorities, together with the forensic findings and other evidence collected by investigators, is expected to play a key role in determining the next steps in the case.
