Obi Cubana celebrates Ekuma Jeremiah, the once-viral Lagos hawker whose act of kindness caught national attention in 2022, as he graduates with a law degree from Ebonyi State University.

Jeremiah rose to fame after a video showed him giving money to prisoners inside a Nigerian Correctional Service bus in the Ajah area of Lagos State.
His selfless gesture struck a chord with Nigerians and caught the attention of billionaire businessman Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana.
On Monday, 22 September 2025, Obi Cubana took to Instagram to mark the remarkable journey of Jeremiah, sharing pictures from the past and present alongside a heartfelt message.
“On January 19, 2022, when the offers were placed before you, you chose education! You made the best choice,” Obi Cubana wrote.
“Today, you are a 2025 law graduate! You could have chosen to take the money and walk away to temporary comfort, but you were wise to choose education.”
He further reflected on their initial meeting, explaining that Jeremiah had dropped out of school but was determined to return to education — even when the easier choice would have been to accept financial gifts and live in the moment.
The businessman emphasised that Jeremiah now has both education and opportunity, and he vowed that the young man’s journey is far from over:
“Jerry MUST be successful!”
Obi Cubana also thanked media personality Daddy Freeze and fellow philanthropist @iam_hymans for being part of Jeremiah’s story, calling their support part of a “great sacrifice”.
Social media has since erupted with praise for both Jeremiah’s dedication and Obi Cubana’s long-term support.
