In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Morayo opened up about her family’s long-standing relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, detailing how he supported them during one of their most difficult times.

According to Morayo, Tinubu, who was then the Governor of Lagos State, stepped in to support her family when her father—former President of the Nigerian Bar Association and a human rights activist—fell seriously ill.

“When he was very ill, the Governor at the time, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, stood by my mother. He helped with the medical bills and cared for my dad,” she recalled. “Even when things were tough, he stood with us. Later, he also supported my brother’s journey in politics.”

While acknowledging the help they received, Morayo also addressed rumors that her professional achievements were tied to political influence.

She firmly stated that her job at TVC was earned on pure merit, not handed to her through connections.

“It wasn’t through him I got my job at TVC. It had nothing to do with Asiwaju. I went there purely on merit,” she clarified.

She also revealed that she chose to support Tinubu during his campaign because of her belief in loyalty and the rare opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a national movement.
