According to a report by ABC News, Warner drowned off the coast of Costa Rica on Sunday, with local police confirming his cause of death as asphyxia due to drowning.

Former Cosby Show actor, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, has tragically passed away at the age of 54.

The incident occurred near Playa Cocles, a popular beach located in the Limón Province.

Warner was reportedly caught in a rip current, which pulled him underwater.

His body was later discovered on Sunday afternoon by local authorities and rescue teams.

Warner, born on August 18, 1970, rose to fame for his iconic role as Theo Huxtable, the only son of Cliff and Clair Huxtable, on the groundbreaking NBC sitcom The Cosby Show.

The series ran from 1984 to 1992 and helped solidify Warner as a household name during his early acting career.

Beyond his success on The Cosby Show, Warner enjoyed a long and diverse career in film, television, and music.

Warner was caught by a rip current in the water, and his body was found on Sunday afternoon.

He made his first television appearance in 1982 on Matt Houston and continued to act in a wide range of roles, including appearances on Malcolm & Eddie, Suits, Major Crime, and Community.

In recent years, Warner had a major role as Dr. AJ Austin in the critically acclaimed Fox medical drama The Resident, where his performance was praised for its depth and authenticity.
